In “Trainwreck,” Schumer plays Amy, a magazine writer living by the credo that an uninhibited life is best enjoyed when free from stifling, boring romantic commitment. But Amy, who’s in more of a rut than she wills herself to believe, finds herself falling for the subject of the new article she’s writing, a charming and successful sports doctor named Aaron Conners (Bill Hader).
Directed by Judd Apatow, “Trainwreck” appears to be a perfect fusion of the “40 Year-Old Virgin” director’s sensibilities and the “Inside Amy Schumer” star’s vibrant comedic energy. To further build enthusiasm, set to appear in the film is Marisa Tomei, Daniel Radcliffe, Brie Larson, LeBron James, Ezra Miller and, in what is supposedly a scene-stealing role, Tilda Swinton.
Above, audiences can get their first taste of “Trainwreck” beyond the previously-dropped trailer. In the clip (which starts around the 1:00 mark), Amy gets a call from Hader, which seriously freaks out her and friend Nikki (played by Vanessa Bayer) — as Bayer hilariously puts it, “Why would he call? You guys just had sex!”
It’s just a tease of what “Trainwreck” has to offer, but safe to say, this clip only has us wanting more.
“Trainwreck” hits theaters on July 17.
