It was only a matter of time before the success of the Indie horror little-engine-that-could “It Follows” would start propelling its star, Maika Monroe, to the top. And while “Echoes of War,” the new Civil War film from director Kane Senes, may be a tinier drama, it may also be the first sign of big things to come for the actress.
“Echoes of War” follows a soldier, Wade, played by James Badge Dale, who returns to his quiet country home only for that peace to be uprooted by an oppressive cattle rancher harassing his family at every turn. Monroe plays Wade’s niece, Abigail.
“Echoes of War” premieres at the Dallas Film Festival before coming to theaters May 15.
