Mega-producer Jason Blum has dabbled in supernatural horror (“Insidious”) and Academy Award-winning indies (“Whiplash”), and now he’s setting his sights on the psychological-thriller in “The Gift.”
The film stars Jason Bateman and Rebecca Hall as Simon and Robyn, a young married couple whose lives are upended when they run into one of Simon’s high school acquaintances (Joel Edgerton). As the obsessive man invades the couple’s lives, a dark secret will be revealed from the past that forces Robyn to confront just how well she knows the people around her.
Marking the directorial debut of Edgerton, the Blumhouse Productions thriller will serve as chilling counterprogramming to summer blockbusters when it’s released July 31.
