Are they calling this “Fant4stic”? Is that what they’re doing? No, 20th Century Fox hasn’t officially changed the title of “Fantastic Four,” and thank god, because that’s some “Tak3n” level nonsense there guys. How’s Josh Trank’s movie doing with fans? The movie was rumored to be in trouble earlier this year, the release date got bumped back a few weeks, but the comic constituents seemed to turn a corner when the first marketing teasers were delivered to the masses.
The film does look to be a little on the humorless side, and these new character posters don’t exactly help. Then again, all superhero posters suffer from bad photoshop and solemn and severe poses. Here’s the official synopsis:
FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.
Can this umpteenth superhero reboot tap into the similar magic Trank unearthed in his promising debut, “Chronicle,” a movie that “Fant4astic” seems loosely modeled on? It seems too early to tell, but we’re rooting for it given how much we were surprised by “Chronicle.” A lot rides on this for Fox too, as they’d obviously like to get yet another super franchise up and running. Starring Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, Toby Kebbell, Reg E. Cathey, and Tim Blake Nelson, “Fantastic Four” is due in theaters on August 7th. Check out the posters below and let us know what your confidence level is in this project because we’re curious.
