Cohen Media Group announced today that it has acquired all North american distribution rights to “Mustang.”

The drama about five young, orphaned sisters is the feature directorial debut of Turkish-French filmmaker Deniz Gamze Erguven. Sexual repression is discovered amongst the sisters when they meet some boys at the beach of their Black Sea coastal town, and a stern neighbor tells the girls’ grandmother of their lewd behavior. “Deniz Gamze Erguven has a very distinctive voice and we are proud to bring his superb, surprising and important film to U.S. audiences. ‘Mustang’ is precisely the kind of provocative and artistic film that Cohen Media Group prides itself on distributing.” said Charles S. Cohen. Chairman and CEO of Cohen Media Group.

CMG President Daniel Battsek said, “Deniz Gamze Erguven’s incredibly confident feature film directorial debut takes a serious subjects and handles it with such a sure yet light touch that one can’t help being emotionally connected to the young women she portrays with great compassion.”

Cohen Media Group is planning to release the film theatrically in early 2016.
