Earlier this year, there was a brief flurry of excitement when it was announced that Steven Spielberg was kicking around the idea of directing another Indiana Jones movie, with Chris Pratt picking up the whip. But those reports were scotched when Pratt said no one actually talked to him about it, and everyone seems to forget that Disney has already said “Star Wars” is their first priority in terms of Lucasfilm projects. But here’s another reminder.
Producer Kathleen Kennedy recently chatted with Vanity Fair, and while she confirmed that Indiana Jones is a property they’ll rejuvenate because duh, it probably won’t be anytime soon. “[Another Indiana Jones movie] will one day be made inside this company. When it will happen, I’m not quite sure. We haven’t started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it,” she said.
Basically, it’s coming, but right now, it seems like their energies are focused on the mega-expanding “Star Wars” movie-verse. And that makes sense given it’s hugely valuable, and they probably want to make sure they don’t lose focus and that the sequels and spinoffs are running smoothly before they toss another big franchise onto their plate.
