Kristen Stewart will reunite with Olivier Assayas, the director whose “Clouds of Sils Maria” won her a supporting actress Cesar and who has, no question, aided in the young star’s rising dramatic chops, Variety reports from Cannes.
Dubbed “Personal Shopper,” the film is being pitched as “a Paris-set English-language ghost story taking place in the fashion underworld.” Written and directed by Assayas, the film starts filming in Paris at the end of this year and will be steered by the “Sils Maria” team: Producer Charles Gillibert for CG Cinema, MK2 for international sales and Les Films du Losange. It sounds like the French auteur and Cannes vet is up to his typical meta-mischief tricks, blending genre and fantasy with headier themes.
“Clouds of Sils Maria” bowed in the Cannes competition last year, and made Stewart the first American actor ever to win a Cesar. It’s now in theaters.
