Laura Dern and Ellen Burstyn to Star in Jennifer Fox's Narrative Directing Debut 'The Tale'

Ellen Burstyn and Laura Dern will play a mother and daughter revisiting their past in Jennifer Fox’s "The Tale."

Dern will star as Jennifer, an accomplished journalist who is forced to question her memories when her mother discovers a "story" she wrote at age 13 about a sexual triangle involving two adult coaches. Jennifer’s recollections of those events, however, diverge from what’s on the page, leading her to search for the two men to discover the truth about herself.

"The Tale" will begin shooting this summer.

Fox’s previous directing credits include the documentaries "Beirut: The Last Home Movie" and "My Reincarnation." "The Tale" marks her narrative debut as a filmmaker.
