“Cut Snake,” a psychological crime thriller set in mid-’70s Melbourne, has been acquired for U.S. distribution by Monterey Media.
Said Scott Mansfield, a managing partner at the company, “It is rare that I have experienced a film with such a sense of overriding danger, like an impending human explosion.” The film stars Sullivan Stapleton (“Gangster Squad”), Alex Russell (“Unbroken”) and Jessica De Gouw (“Arrow”).
The official synopsis reads: “‘Cut Snake’ tells the story of Sparra Farrell (Russell), an ex-convict who is trying to make a life for himself in a new city. He has found honest work and becomes engaged but the prospect of his new life is challenged when his foreboding charismatic cell mate Pommie (Stapleton) tracks him down. Sparra finds himself drawn back toward a world and a man that he thought he had wanted to leave behind.”
“Cut Snake” will be released in U.S. theaters in late summer.
