Screen Media Films has acquired U.S. rights to director Bob Byington’s “7 Chinese Brothers.” The film debuted at this year’s SXSW Film Festival.
Jason Schwartzman stars as Larry, a drunk with a sad job whose only redeeming quality is his boss Lupe, played be Eleanore Pienta. Larry has a lot on his plate, and as he sinks further into booze, he tries to win over the girl of his dreams, take care of his dog and make his grandmother proud of him. Not easy tasks.
“We’ve been fans of Jason and Bob’s work for a while and couldn’t be happier to be working on ‘7 Chinese Brothers’ with them,” said Seth Needle, Director of Acquisitions & Marketing for Screen Media Films. “They both deliver the usual funny/quirky/insightful efforts we’ve come to expect and know audiences will take to.”
Screen Media will release “7 Chinese Brothers” in select theaters this August.
