Originally a 2014 Black List spec script by Gary Spinelli, Liman’s reconnaissance thriller is based on the outrageous and real exploits of hustler and pilot Barry Seal, a CIA recruit tasked with bringing down a burgeoning communist threat in Central America. This covert operation spawned the Medellin cartel and nearly brought down the Reagan White House during the days of the Iran Contra scandal. Seal was eventually gunned down in Baton Rouge.
