Toronto drag performer Ryan Boa (aka BOA) posted on Facebook this week about a brutal and violent experience of abuse he faced at the hands of a man he brought home with him:
“Last night, I made a horrible decision of inviting someone over to my house for drinks after my booking. he was extremely nice, outgoing, charismatic, and sweet. after hanging out for a bit, he kept bugging me to have sex with him and I wouldn’t budge. he then all of a sudden, got extremely angry and started attacking me. he literally kicked the shit out of me, stole my phone, wallet, laptop and money. when you meet someone out and think you want to bring them home…think twice.”
Very scary stuff, especially in a city as well-regarded for its safety as Toronto.
Group Drag Queens Galore has started this GoFundMe campaign to help Ryan recoup some of the medical costs along with the computer, money and phone that was stolen. Also, a rough photo of the attacker has been found (which is posted above alongside a photo of Ryan’s injuries), so if you are in Toronto and happen across someone who looks similar, please contact the police. Get well soon, Ryan!
