Rick Famuyiwa‘s “Dope” has been enjoying a helluva run without having opened in cinemas yet. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January to great acclaim, and is now receiving accolades internationally, such as screening at the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight. The movie will hit screens everywhere this summer and brand new red band trailer is here with plentiful swearing.
Starring Shameik Moore, Tony Revolori, Kiersey Clemons, Kimberly Elise, Chanel Iman, Keith Stanfield, Quincy Brown, Blake Anderson, Zoë Kravitz and A$AP Rocky, the story follows a trio of earnest teens trying to survive life in The Bottoms, who get stuck with a bag of drugs and a gun and must get themselves out of this dangerous situation. It’s a sprawling story, rolling with an energy that we described as “something very close to a new classic.”
