Say it isn’t so. “Mad Men” will end for good next Sunday and my life, as I know it, will be over. But AMC has put together a gorgeous promo to ease our aches, harking back to the series’ glory days.
Seeing Betty, blonde and beautiful, floating down those steps puts lump in the throat after last week’s revelations. Remember when Don and Betty were happy together? It’s pretty to think so. “Mad Men” is at its best when delivering blunt truths and unsentimental punches. But this unabashed and emotional trailer reminds how heartfelt the show could be.
How Matthew Weiner will wrap it all up is, literally, anyone’s guess. He has been told that the final episode, which has been on his mind from the beginning, is a “disaster” but he’s going with it anyway.
