If you were at all disappointed by the first “True Detective” teaser, then odds are you won’t be by the second. What was slow, methodical and silent before is now fast, energetic and talkative. Each character is given their own brief section of dialogue as the minute-long trailer races from start to finish with addictive energy.
In the dark, moody spot, we learn there’s a missing girl that only Rachel McAdams’ sheriff character seems to care about. We also get a glimpse into the confused mind of Taylor Kitsch’s highway patrol officer and see the bloodied knuckles of Colin Farrell’s pessimistic policeman. Vince Vaughn kicks things off talking about his villain’s worst and best self, and did we mention McAdams showing off her knife skills? Because we probably should’ve lead with that utterly awesome moment.
