Xavier Dolan Wants To Help You Make a Short Film

Somehow between finding time to shoot two major films this year and choose the winner of the Palme d’Or, Xavier Dolan also wants to help budding filmmakers by launching an online film script competition with the folks at Vice’s i-D Magazine.

Says The Hollywood Reporter:

The project, branded #Magnifique, will be done in cooperation with ice cream maker Magnum. Unveiled at a press conference in Cannes Saturday, the project will see young would-be screenwriters submit short treatments, along with casting ideas, for short films of under 10 minutes. Three finalists will be selected by early September.

Mr. Dolan will coach the three finalists via Skype through the making of the films, which will be produced Vice and ID.

“I will be looking for honesty and boldness,” said Dolan. “But mostly honesty.”

Reach for that truth!
