'LIMBO' Embarks on a Surreal Road Trip Through the Desert

Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress — at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

Logline: A conflicted man on a road trip into the desert finds a dying dog who grants him a single wish and a chance at redemption.

Elevator Pitch: Based on a graphic novella by acclaimed artist Marian Churchland, “LIMBO” is a surreal and moving character study about a man who is lost both figuratively and literally. The film will feature beautiful visuals, an interesting and dynamic lead and an animatronic dog puppet (!) created by Tim Martin of legendary effects house Amalgamated Dynamics, Inc.. Set against a stark, twilit dreamscape, “LIMBO” is a modern fairytale about regret, loss and gathering the strength to make the necessary changes in one’s life. Plus, it features practical effects!

About the Film: I moved to Hollywood to become a filmmaker. Four years later, there I was, staring at my overwhelming credit card debt in the same dingy apartment. I realized that if I wanted something to happen, I had to start it myself. In the depths of this self-reflection, I found this comic drawn by Marian. It was a quick read, but something about it stuck with me. I deeply connected with it and immediately thought about what a unique film it would make. I thought about how special it would be to share the experience with so many more people.

Current Status: We are close to our fundraising goal of $5K, which is going toward production and to complete fabrication of our animatronic dog.
