Riding high after strong reviews for “Macbeth” from the Cannes Film Festival (here’s ours), director Justin Kurzel is looking toward tomorrow, tomorrow and tomorrow. And the rising filmmaker has got a new project brewing with writing partner Michael Lesslie.
The duo have set up “Haven” with Film4 and Element Pictures, with Kurzel directing and Lesslie writing. The project is one that they’ve been working on since before the Shakespearean adaptation, but plot details are still being kept scarce, though it will be a psychological thriller that takes place in a mental hospital. But this one will have to keep waiting.
Next up for both Lesslie and Kurzel is the big budget adaptation of the video game “Assassin’s Creed,” starring Michael Fassbender for 20th Century Fox, which is due in cinemas next year. And undoubtedly, the pair will be pursued for even more projects given their increased profile. [Deadline]
