Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress — at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.
In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.
Logline: A gripping, psychological drama about a female imposter who lies to gain emotional intimacy.
Elevator Pitch: Nancy is a female antihero in the vein of Travis Bickle, Walter White and Tony Soprano. Ultimately, she does a lot of twisted things because she’s just looking for love.
Casting Director: Lauren Grey
About the Film: Recently, I found out that one of my favorite professors was a fraud. He was someone that we all revered. He taught us to “write what breaks your heart, because what breaks your heart will mend your heart.” He urged us to be emotionally authentic. When it came out that his whole career and life was a lie, I was shocked. Who was this person? What part of him was real, if my experience felt very real? Was he still a brilliant teacher, if he still inspired me? These are the kind of questions I want to explore with “Nancy.”
