After the one-two punch of “Prisoners” and “Enemy” raised his profile significantly, all eyes have been closely anticipating the next feature from Oscar-nominated director Denis Villeneuve. While attendees of the Cannes Film Festival got an early look at his War on Drugs drama “Sicario,” audiences everywhere can finally get a glimpse of the director’s ambitious new project thanks to a violent and suspenseful debut trailer.
Starring Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin and Benicio del Toro, and re-teaming the director with DP Roger Deakins, “Sicario” deals with an idealistic FBI agent (Blunt) who crosses the border to aid in the escalating war against drugs. With the help from an elite government task force official (Brolin) and a mysterious consultant from Mexico (del Toro), the agent must question everything she knows in order to survive the journey to catch a drug lord.
