After hitting the festival circuit last fall, “The Face of an Angel” is gearing up for its stateside theatrical release.
The mystery-thriller, which is based on the murder trial of Amanda Knox, comes from acclaimed director Michael Winterbottom (“The Trip”) and centers on Simone (Kate Beckinsale), a journalist, and Thomas (Daniel Brühl), a documentary filmmaker. Despite their differing sensibilities, they come together to explore the story of a murder and chase after its prime suspect.
In an exclusive clip (posted above), Thomas confides in Simone that he doesn’t want to tell the story the easy way. As he puts it, “I don’t want to make a film about fear or death or killing. I want to make a film about love.” Promising to provide a fresh perspective on the infamous Knox trial, the film showcases the tender emotions at stake in the subsequent scene.
“The Face of an Angel” hits theaters on June 19. Watch the exclusive clip above.
