READ MORE: Cannes: Justin Kurzel on His Vision for ‘Macbeth’ and Fascination With Violence
Move over Kenneth Branagh and Laurence Olivier, for director Justin Kurzel (“The Snowtown Murders”) is about to redefine how filmmakers adapt Shakespeare on the big screen. Following up its acclaimed premiere at the Cannes Film Festival last month, the first official trailer for Kurzel’s “Macbeth” has landed, giving audiences an exciting look at stars Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard in action as the royal couple corrupted by their obsession for power.
“Macbeth” has been on our radar for quite some time now, mainly because the chance to see two of the most dynamic actors working today take on The Bard’s most complex leads seems too good to be true. Fortunately, Kurzel has vision to spare, and the teaser confirms this version of the story will be as visually provocative as it is stunningly acted.
