The Film Society of Lincoln Center and Subway Cinema have announced the lineup for the 2015 New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF), North America’s leading festival of popular Asian cinema. The 14th edition of the event will showcase 52 feature films and will be attended by 18 international filmmakers and celebrity guests traveling from Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and the U.S.
NYAFF’s Opening Night presentation will be Philip Yung’s “Port of Call.” The film centers on the brutal murder of a 16-year-old Hunan girl who moves to Hong Kong with her family and falls into prostitution. Sabu’s “Chasuke’s Journey,” which competed in this year’s Berlin Film Festival, will screen as the Centerpiece Presentation. The Closing Night selection will be announced at a later date.
Other notable films screening at NYAFF are Fire Lee’s black comedy “Robbery,” Anh Sang-hoon’s erotic period actioner “Empire of Lust,” Chen Jiabin’s directorial debut “A Fool” and Nobuhiro Yamashita’s slacker/rock drama “La La La at Rock Bottom.”
