It’s no longer a trend at Disney — it’s just a regular day at the office. The studio has been ramping up its live action slate hard following the success of “Maleficent” and “Cinderella.” Developing projects include big screen takes on “Mulan,” “Beauty & The Beast,” “Dumbo,” “Winnie The Pooh,” “The Jungle Book” and “Tink,” and now yet another joins the ranks.
THR reports that the “Night On Bald Mountain” sequence from the animated classic “Fantasia” is being turned into a feature film. If you are already rolling your eyes, prepare to roll them further, because Matt Sazama and Burk Sharples, the guys behind last year’s horror/fantasy flop “Dracula Untold,” will be penning the script. It’s not clear presently how a short about a demon who raises spirits from the dead will become big family entertainment, but the tone will apparently be in line with “Maleficent,” which makes sense.
Anyway, watch the sequence from the 1982 re-release below, and let us know how you think Disney will expand this tale.
