It’s Dwayne Johnson‘s world, and we’re just living in it. He can bring in the box office bucks, move from action to comedy with ease, and make it all look pretty damn charming. It’s no wonder Hollywood is gifting him with big screen properties to lead, and two of them have landed directors.
Deadline reports that video game adaptation “Rampage” will reteam The Rock with his “San Andreas” and “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” director Brad Peyton. Ryan Engle (“Non-Stop“) is penning the script for this one about monsters that wreak havoc on American landmarks. Plot specifics are being kept under wraps, but they will probably involve Johnson punching enormous reptiles or otherwise.
Meanwhile, THR says that Seth Gordon will get behind the camera of the forever developing “Baywatch” movie. After numerous hands have tried to make it work over the past decade, the concept will be to go down the action comedy route in the same vein as “21 Jump Street.”
The beach-driven blockbuster is aiming to shoot in 2016, and “Rampage” is aiming for a 2017 bow, so it appears Johnson has a pretty busy year or so ahead of him. Don’t forget, he’ll also be shooting the second season of “Ballers,” which was recently renewed by HBO.
