The seven-day TIFF conference will also feature intimate conversations with producers Gigi Pritzger (OddLot Entertainment) and Nicolas Chartier (Voltage Pictures) and an Asian Film Summit Master Class with filmmaker Jia Zhangke. Actor-writer-producer Bill Hader (“Trainwreck”) and documentary director Asif Kapadia (“Amy”) will present at the Doc Conference.
Running from September 11 to 17, the Festival’s Industry Conference offers registered delegates panels and conversations on a wide array of topics, from the creative process, financing and co-production, to marketing, distribution and the future of content. Confirmed speakers also include Mike Goodridge (Protagonist Pictures), Claudia Landsberger (BaseWorx For Film) and John Fithian (National Association of Theatre Owners). This year’s Summit introduces new series Upfront, with no-holds barred conversations on the most controversial and timely issues in the industry.
Now integrated into the TIFF Industry Conference, the Doc Conference (September 16) offers a full day of keynote sessions and presentations on the current landscape of documentary production, financing and distribution. Hader will discuss his new series, “Documentary Now”; Kapadia, director Avi Lewis and journalist Naomi Klein will speak about outreach and building an audience for documentary film.

The Asian Film Summit opens on September 15 for the first time at the Glenn Gould Studio as industry experts and programs explore the East-West relationship. The Asian Film Summit will include a Master Class with director Jia Zhang-ke.
