READ MORE: Cannes Review: Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Sicario’ is Very Well-Made, But to What End?
After taking Cannes by storm in May and lining up a Special Presentations slot this morning at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival, “Sicario” is gearing up for its September release with guns fully loaded and ready to fire. Starring Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin, the action drama tackles the War on Drugs and hails from “Prisoners” director Denis Villeneuve.
“Sicario” deals with an idealistic FBI agent (Blunt) who crosses the border to aid in the escalating war against drugs. With help from an elite government task force official (Brolin) and a mysterious consultant from Mexico (del Toro), the agent must question everything she knows in order to survive the journey to catch a drug lord.
“Sicario” opens September 18. Watch the trailer above.
