Tobias Lindholm continues to expand his war-driven filmography with his second feature, “A War.” The writer-turned-director explores the effects of war through Claus Michael Pederson (Pilou Asbaek,) a company commander stationed in Afghanistan with a wife and family in Denmark. When Claus is caught in heavy Taliban crossfire, he makes a life-changing decision in order to save his men and is accused of committing a war crime when he returns to Denmark.
The trailer above provides a glimpse into the emotional and turbulent consequences of decisions made in the midst of war, as well as the power of the handheld camera that will definitely situate us in Claus’ psych. The drama has been selected to play in the Orrizonti section of the Venice Film Festival.
