A movie that has been long in the works and at one time was going to star Jennifer Aniston and Rachel Weisz, “Miss You Already” eventually rolled with Drew Barrymore and Toni Collette in the lead roles, with Catherine Hardwicke behind the camera. So the film is the can, and the first trailer has landed.
Featuring a decent supporting cast including Dominic Cooper, Jacqueline Bisset and Paddy Considine, the story follows two lifelong friends who find their relationship tested by Barrymore’s character’s struggle to get pregnant and the onset of Collette’s character’s cancer. Here’s the official synopsis:
Milly (Collette) and Jess (Barrymore) have been best friends forever. They’ve shared everything since they were kids – secrets, clothes, laughs, substances, boyfriends – but now, they are trying to be grown-ups. Milly has a high-flying job and lives in a beautiful townhouse with husband Kit (Cooper) and their two kids. Jess is a town planner and she and her boyfriend Jago (Considine) live on a bohemian houseboat on a London canal. Their friendship is as rock solid as ever. That is until Jess struggles to have a much longed-for baby and Milly finds out she has breast cancer. How do you share that?
“Miss You Already” opens in the UK on September 25th. Roadside Attractions has the U.S. rights, but no date has been set. Watch below.
