READ MORE: Dan Harmon’s Offbeat Animated Series ‘Rick and Morty’ Gets a Second Season From Adult Swim
The alcohol doused and often violent misadventures of “Rick and Morty” were nothing short of hilarious in its debut season. Created by Dan Harmon (“Community”) and Justin Roiland, the show follows alcoholic mad scientist Rick Sanchez and his well-meaning but slow grandson Morty Smith (both voiced by Roiland) as they travel through space and time causing some serious chaos.
While shock and awe are key in fitting into the slate of more mature shows on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim programming, the show also features intelligent satire of family drama and science fiction. Based on the trailer, the odd couple will be back to their old ways in Season 2, interacting with the stranger and seedier characters of the universe while continuously causing Morty’s family distress. The cartoon also features the voices of Chris Parnell, Sarah Chalke and Spencer Grammer.
The second season will begin July 26. Watch the trailer above.
