Charles S. Cohen, Chairman and CEO of New York-based production and distribution company Cohen Media Group, has announced two key executive appointments: Michael Winton, formerly of IFC Films, has joined CMG as Vice President of Marketing, while independent film publicity consultant Laura Sok has been named Vice President of Publicity.
Winton was most recently a Marketing Director at IFC Films, and he has worked on titles such as “Sleepwalk With Me,” “Kill List,” “The Duke of Burgundy” and “The Babadook.”
Sok has spent the last year and a half in the Netherlands as an independent film consultant. She was part of the International Publicity team for the 2015 edition of the International Film Festival Rotterdam and also worked with veteran film publicist Susan Norget during the 52nd New York Film Festival on “The Look of Silence,” “Iris” and “Clouds of Sils Maria.” She has also held roles at Oscillosope Laboratories, Relativity Media, IFC Films and New Line Cinema.
“We are proud to bring such accomplished talents as Michael Winton and Laura Sok into the CMG family,” said Cohen Media Group’s Daniel Battsek. “Their collective experience and fresh perspective will be indispensable as the company prepares an exciting new slate of releases.”
Both Winton and Sok will report to Battsek, President of Cohen Media Group.
