To say that NBC has been struggling lately would be an understatement, but perhaps the network has found a clever way to both launch a new sitcom, a genre that has been their bread and butter for years, while also tapping into the superhero craze. And I gotta admit, this is not a half bad idea.
Deadline reports that the network has put a pilot order out for “Powerless,” which will essentially be “The Office” but with DC Comics characters. Don’t expect the major brand players like Batman, Superman, or Wonder Woman to feature, but rather, this will center on the powerless, stuck grinding away at an insurance company, in world where superheroes are very real. So, imagine Michael Scott selling paper, but in Gotham, and you get the general idea. Again, this could be a lot of fun if done right so we’ll see how this goes.
As Vulture points out, this sounds not unlike that first act of “The Incredibles,” but hey, if you’re gonna be inspired, might as well be inspired by the best.
