The boxing drama is having quite a resurgence this year, thanks to heavyweights like “Southpaw” and the upcoming “Creed,” and Kent Moran’s directorial debut, “The Challenger,” is stepping into the ring this September with an inspirational tale of redemption and family.
Moran stars as Jaden Miller, a struggling Bronx auto mechanic who discovers his calling in boxing. When he finds himself on the brink of homelessness, Jaden does everything in his power to prevent him and his mother (S. Epatha Merkerson) from living on the streets. With the help of legendary trainer Duane Taylor (Michael Clarke Duncan in his final role), Jaden finds that boxing could be his way to a better life.
The drama has partnered with Regal Cinemas for a limited theatrical rollout beginning September 11. Watch the trailer for the movie above, and check out the exclusive poster below.
