Calling all Nicholas Sparks fans! Love is in the air at the CW, as the weepie king’s beloved “The Notebook” will likely soon be reborn as a televised period drama. According to Entertainment Weekly, the show will feature the esteemed pair of Noah and Allie, last seen in Nick Cassavetes’s 2004 film version of the novel.
Here’s the official logline:
“This series will follow the romantic journey of the two beloved central characters Noah and Allie, at the outset of their blossoming relationship as they build their lives and their future together against the backdrop of the racial politics, economic inequities, and social mores of post-World War II of the late 1940s in North Carolina.”
Despite the heartbreaking scenes of the aged couple in the film, the CW series will probably only focus on the pair in their youth. But there is talk that the decade-spanning historical aspects of the film will still remain in the televised version.
If greenlit, the project will come courtesy of Nicholas Sparks Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, and we hear that Sparks will serve as an executive producer. Rom-com fans, keep your fingers crossed. Let us know what you think of this reboot in the comments below.
