Starz is doing an excellent job marketing their new shows. Along with a swarm of Patrick Stewart-heavy efforts for this past Saturday’s premiere of “Blunt Talk,” the ads dropped for “Ash Vs. Evil Dead” have been equally enticing. Since the mountain of nostalgia-enduing teases, we’ve been treated to what I’d argue is the best trailer for a television show this year as well as a “kick ash” new poster.
Now, we’ve got a miniature cut of it. Typically, these types of trailers are all hype and no payoff — “Oh, look! A new trailer! Wait. This is just a shorter version of what I’ve already seen. Damn you, network goons!” — but the above cut throws in a few bonuses to keep fans happy. Lucy Lawless is shown angrily gripping the steering wheel, and the end of the spot is a brand new riff between Pablo (Ray Santiago) and Ash (Bruce Campbell) about racism and churros.
“Ash Vs. Evil Dead” premieres Saturday, October 31 on Starz. Watch the new trailer above, and keep checking Indiewire for the latest on Sam Raimi’s latest entry in the “Evil Dead” saga.
