The Toronto International Film Festival describes Jean-Paul Rappeneau’s “Families” (aka “Belles Familles”) as a “rollicking and romantic country-house farce,” something the exclusive trailer above helps define with an impassioned energy. Starring Mathieu Amalric, Marine Vacth, Gilles Lellouche and Nicole Garcia, the comedy will have its world premiere in the Special Presentations section at TIFF this September.

“Families” centers on Jerome (Amalric), who visits Paris on vacation from Shanghai to see his old family home, which is now at the center of a local conflict. Unbeknownst to him, Jerome’s trip will forever change his life, thanks to the madcap family entanglements that ensue.
