Despite its quirky premise, “A Month of Sundays” seems like it will strike more than one or two familiar chords with audiences based on its exclusive trailer. The third feature film from Australian writer-director Matthew Saville, the bittersweet film bows at the Toronto International Film Festival in the Contemporary World Cinema Section this month.
The film stars Anthony LaPaglia as Frank Mollard, a middle-aged realtor and recent divorcé living a dull and unambitious life in Adelaide. One day, Frank receives an unlikely phone call from his dead mother that changes his life for the better. The film is no ghost story, yet the trailer reveals how this newfound relationship allows Frank to wake himself up from what could easily be considered a ghost-like state.
“A Month of Sundays” will make its Toronto premiere on September 13. Check out the exclusive trailer above.
