READ MORE: Ethan Hawke and Emma Watson Thriller ‘Regression’ to Open the 63rd San Sebastian Festival
Emma Watson once again shows her ability to take on roles distant from the iconic Hermione Granger in the new trailer for “Colonia.” Watson stars alongside Daniel Brühl as two young lovers living in Chile that become separated in the early days of the 1973 coup that would put dictator Augusto Pinochet into power for the next twenty years.
The film is equal parts political thriller and love story as Watson’s character schemes to free her lover, who becomes a political prisoner in a stronghold ruled by a fascist minister. The fast paced trailer gives viewers a small preview of the horrors she will face in her attempts to restore her former life.
The film debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival. Watch the trailer above.
