It hasn’t made its world premiere in Venice quite yet, but exquisite Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino’s latest, “A Bigger Splash,” is almost here. A loose remake of Jacques Deray‘s 1969 film, “La Piscine,” starring Alain Delon and Romy Schneider, the movie is a crime/mystery drama about the vacation of a famous rock star and a filmmaker which is disrupted by the unexpected visit of an old friend and his daughter. The movie stars Tilda Swinton, Dakota Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, and Matthias Schoenaerts.

Here’s the official synopsis:
Rock legend Marianne Lane is recuperating on the volcanic island of Pantelleria with her partner Paul when iconoclast record producer and old flame Harry unexpectedly arrives with his daughter Penelope and interrupts their holiday, bringing with him an A-bomb blast of delirious nostalgia from which there can be no rescue. A Bigger Splash is a sensuous portrait of laughter, desire, and rock and roll detonating into violence under the Mediterranean sun.
Here’s the director’s statement:
What happens when desire and pleasure clash? What if the object of desire happens to be also the— supposed—authority figure? What is left of a generation that has shattered the world with the sole power of ideas, and with its artistic music revolution? A Bigger Splash investigates the fracture created by the dichotomous desire to love and kill the father. All of this takes place in a rugged setting in the Mediterranean, teeming and untamed.
The film’s first clip has arrived, as well as some new sun-dappled photos of the cast. Fox Searchlight will open “A Bigger Splash” on May 13, 2016, but in the meantime, you can watch the first clip below.
