It’s not reached the heights of rivals like “The Hunger Games” (and the second film undergrossed the first, which isn’t a great sign), but the “Divergent” series presumably has its fans, because we’ve got two movies to go from Summit’s YA franchise, which toplines Shailene Woodley and Theo James.
Following the pattern of other YA properties, the new movies split the final book of the trilogy into two entries, with the first, “The Divergent Series: Allegiant,” hitting in March and then “The Divergent Series: Ascendant” following in 2017. Director Robert Schwentke, who helmed the last movie, returns, as do a number of other actors, including Naomi Watts, Octavia Spencer, Ray Stevenson, Zoe Kravitz, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, and Maggie Q, with Jeff Daniels stepping in for Kate Winslet as the big bad villain for the last two movies.
We haven’t seen any of these, because they couldn’t look more generic. But the new trailer, which just landed today, helpfully recaps the story so far, before showcasing new footage as *checks Wikipedia* Tris and *checks Wikipedia again* Four head Beyond The Wall, where they find some scary frisbees or something. Take a look at the trailer below, let us know what we’re missing about this baffling franchise in the comments, and check the new movie out on March 18th, 2016.
