Watch: Justice-Seeking Jimmy Kimmel Tackles a California Water Abuser in 'Law & Order' Spoof


The California drought hasn’t seen much relief since Governor Jerry Brown declared a state of emergency early last year, so much so that in April, Brown issued mandatory water
restrictions for the first time in state history. Beyond this effort, the
Los Angeles Department of Water and Power has set up a team of people who patrol the city to make sure these restrictions are being upheld.

On last night’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Kimmel decided to add to these forces by joining the LADWP’s
Water Conservation Unit for a round of patrols filmed in the style of “Law
& Order” that were largely made up of friendly visits to remind Californians of
the drought. And for the most part, it remained friendly — until the pair came
across a man watering his green lawn. Things then took a dramatic turn.

Take a look at the clip above and, if you’re a Californian,
don’t be that guy.
