In preparation for its October 2 wide release, a new featurette has been released for acclaimed crime drama “Sicario.” The film tells the story of Emily Blunt’s Kate, a young FBI agent who has been tasked with investigating the activity of drug cartels along the U.S.-Mexico border. Joined by a government task force official (Josh Brolin) and a consultant with a questionable past (a standout Benicio Del Toro), Kate sets out to stem the violence surrounding the cartels, causing her to question her values and her cause.

In the above video, Blunt, along with producer Trent Luckinbill, speaks on the harsh realities of the cartel wars and points out the film’s ability to accurately represent the violent machinations of the Mexican drug trade.

“Sicario” is directed by Denis Villeneuve and is currently playing in select theaters. The drama opens nationwide this Friday, October 2. Watch the featurette above.
