DOC NYC, America’s largest documentary festival, has announced the world premiere of “The Ties That Bind” will be its surprise screening this year. Directed by Thom Zimny, the documentary focuses on an interview with Bruce Springsteen as he recounts the creation of his seminal 1980 album, “The River.” Zimny will present the film on Saturday, November 14 at 7:30pm at the SVA Theatre.
“Bruce Springsteen fans won’t want to miss this big screen experience,” said DOC NYC Artistic Director Thom Powers. “Thom Zimny has proven to be a master chronicler of Springsteen’s career in their past film collaborations. This film deepens our understanding of ‘The River.’”
Columbia Records will release “The Ties That Bind: The River Collection,” which contains both films as part of a package with 4 CDs and 3 DVDs, on December 4.
