Don Bluth Goes Kickstarter for "Dragon's Lair: The Movie"

Don Bluth is going to Kickstarter to fund Dragon’s Lair: The Movie.

In a viral campaign which launched today, director Don Bluth (An American Tail) and producer Gary Goldman are going directly to the fans who have bombarded them for decades with the suggestion to make a feature film using the characters and mythology in the ground-breaking, award winning video game from the 1980s.

In an era that has successfully revived franchises from the 1980s – and with the renewed popularity of medieval fantasy (Game Of Thrones for example) – Dragon’s Lair makes a lot of sense. And keeping it a hand drawn animation may also loan to its appeal – and perhaps help revive the art form.

Personally, I’m all for it. Check out the (slightly corny) Kickstarter video below and send in a few bucks. This could be quite refreshing!
