With “Girls” potentially ending after next season, Lena Dunham has set up a continuing relationship with HBO via new pilot “Max” — a single camera comedy set inside the world of second wave feminism during the 1960s (Dunham won’t star in it but will direct and execute produce). Deadline reports HBO has picked up the pilot:
Starring Lisa Joyce (Billy & Billie), Max hails from a quartet of Girls executive producers who all will executive produce the pilot – Dunham, who also will direct, Murray Miller, who wrote the script, Jenni Konner and Ilene Landress. Dunham and Konner exec produce through their A Casual Romance Prods.
“Girls” comes back in early 2016.
