Tom Quinn, Jason Janego and Tim League have announced they will release Michael Moore’s “Where to Invade Next” in New York and Los Angeles on December 23 under their currently unnamed distribution label. The documentary will mark the first theatrical release for the new distribution company.
The official synopsis for the doc reads: “‘Where to Invade Next’ is an expansive, rib-tickling, and subversive comedy in which Moore, playing the role of ‘invader,’ visits a host of nations to learn how the U.S. could improve its own prospects. The creator of “Fahrenheit 9/11” and “Bowling for Columbine” is back with this hilarious and eye-opening call to arms. Turns out the solutions to America’s most entrenched problems already existed in the world — they’re just waiting to be co-opted.”
The movie first premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, where critics were mostly pleased and surprised by Moore’s relatively upbeat and optimistic approach to exposing U.S. problems. In the months since it premiered, the doc has played at festivals in New York and the Hamptons, where it won the Audience Award, and will next screen at Chicago, Philadelphia and AFI FEST 2015.
“‘Where to Invade Next’ is Michael Moore’s most dangerous and subversive film yet,” said the team of Quinn, Janego and League. “It’s the perfect crowd pleaser for what’s shaping up to be a historic and exciting holiday season at the movies.”
The movie will open nationwide on January 15, 2016.
