It has already been a helluva run for “Carol,” and it hasn’t even opened in theaters yet. Since its debut at the Cannes Film Festival, the picture has hit Telluride and the New York Film Festival where it has continued to earn acclaim, and last night, it made its latest stop at the BFI London Film Festival, where the accolades kept rolling in.
Rooney Mara and Cate Blanchett (both contenders to be nominated for an Oscar) lead Todd Haynes‘ latest, based on the novel by Patricia Highsmith, about the passion that smolders between a married woman and a department store clerk. Their love is forbidden by the times in which they live, and the drama presents an aching portrait of longing.
“Carol” opens on November 20th. Check out a batch of new photos a below, a poster, and kick it all off with the intro to the film by the director and cast at LFF.
