Hailed by Indiewire as “a quietly moving and deceptively tragic look at aging romance haunted by past mysteries,” Andrew Haigh’s “45 Years” is set to be the must-see adult drama of the season when it’s released in select theaters this December.

The drama stars Silver Bear winners Charlotte Rampling and Tom Courtenay as Kate and George, an older married couple preparing a party for their upcoming 45th wedding anniversary. With just one week to go before the big day, a letter arrives in the mail informing the couple that the body of George’s first love has been found in the glaciers of the Swiss Alps. The news ignites a slow burn of old mysteries that threaten to drive George and Kate away from one another.

“45 Years” opens in limited release on December 23, followed by a nationwide expansion in January 2016. Watch the emotional new trailer above.
