No, you didn’t suddenly get transported back to the mid-’90s when indie studios were cranking out undercooked post-“Pulp Fiction” crime comedies by the half dozen. It’s 2015, and the genre still exists and not only that, John Travolta is still trading on his Quentin Tarantino approved currency, as seen in this trailer for “Criminal Activities.”
Marking the directorial debut of Jackie Earle Haley, the movie finds Dan Stevens and Michael Pitt among those earning a paycheck in this story of some ordinary guys who are in debt to the tune of $400,000 to a mobster. He makes them an offer they can’t refuse to clear the outstanding balance, but of course, things aren’t what they seem and spin wildly out of control. Yawn. You’ve seen this about five thousand time already.
“Criminal Activities” opens in limited release and hits VOD and iTunes on November 20th. Watch below.
