Passion Pit’s Michael Angelakos came out in an interview with Bret Easton Ellis on the author’s podcast Monday.
“I just wanted so badly to be straight because I love her [my ex-wife] so much,” he explained. “I think that was one of the most painful things when we decided to separate.”
Angelakos also goes into his struggles with bipolar disorder, which said was easier to face than his sexuality.
“It’s always been about putting it off in my head,” he said, though acknowledging it was “not consciously.”
